JD Vance is already a father of three ... and he's about to add one more to the family.
Donald Trump's vice president and his wife, Usha Chilukuri Vance, are currently raising kids Ewan, Vivek and Mirabel. Earlier this year, the couple announced that they are expecting their fourth child — a boy — this July.
It's the first time a sitting vice-president's family is growing their family while in office.
“My most important American dream was becoming a good husband and a good dad,” Vance said in his speech at the Republican National Convention in 2024. “I wanted to give my kids the things I didn’t have when I was growing up.”

Vance, who has long advocated for people to have children, faced criticism during the campaign for his 2021 comments about “childless cat ladies” in Democratic leadership, including Kamala Harris, who has two stepchildren.
At the March for Life rally in Washington, DC on Jan. 23, Vance reiterated his pro-baby push, both theoretically and personally. He said in a speech, "Let the record show you have a vice president who practices what he preaches."

Ewan Blaine Vance, 8
Ewan was born in June 2017. Three weeks before Ewan's birth, Usha and JD Vance spoke with NBC News and revealed that they found out the gender of the baby early on in the pregnancy.
“We found out right away because JD, there was no way he could wait,” Usha Vance said.
“I wanted to know at, like, nine weeks but apparently that’s physically impossible,” he added.
While talking on the Senate floor in February 2024, Vance referred to his eldest child as his "6-year-old baby boy" and then playfully corrected himself, saying he's "not so much of a baby anymore."
Vivek Vance, 6
Another baby boy, named Vivek, came along three years later, in February 2020.
In February 2024, Vance wished his son a happy birthday on the Senate floor and read a passage of the Dr. Seuss book "Oh, the Places You’ll Go!"
"I'm sorry, Vivek, that I can't be with you for your birthday dinner, but I want you to know that Daddy loves you very much and I'm going to read this into the record because maybe you can watch it at home," he said.
Though the Vances have largely kept their children out of the limelight and off social media pages, Vance shared a post featuring a fishing trip he took with Vivek in October 2024.
"Great day fishing the Kalamazoo River in Saugatuck with my four year old son Vivek this morning," he captioned the post. "We always enjoy our visits to Michigan, be back soon!"
Mirabel Rose Vance, 4
In December 2021, the couple welcomed their third child, a daughter named Mirabel.
"We were blessed with an early Christmas present this year. Everyone please meet Mirabel Rose Vance, our first girl. Mama and baby both doing great, and we’re feeling very grateful this Christmas season," Vance wrote on Instagram at the time.
The baby girl appeared in a blooper reel of a campaign video with her father in 2022.
While talking with Fox News before being named Trump's running mate, Vance described his feelings on parenting.
"I love being a dad and Usha loves being a mom and I think we love doing that together. And that’s not going to change, whether Trump picks me to be vice president or not," he said.

What JD Vance and Usha Vance Have Said About Parenting
When asked about the role that their different religious faiths — JD is Catholic; Usha is Hindu — play in raising their children, Usha Vance once said, "There are a lot of things that we just agree on, especially when it comes to family life (and) how to raise our kids. And so I think the answer really is we just talk a lot."
In an August 2024 Fox News interview, Usha Vance discussed the family’s adjustment to her husband’s new political prominence.
“We have code names now. Our kids had a lot of fun with that,” she said, referring to the Secret Service protection they received.
