Jon Hamm is looking back on his signature role.
Hamm, who can currently be seen in Apple TV’s “Your Friends & Neighbors,” says he is in the middle of rewatching “Mad Men.”
“My wife and I have been rewatching ‘Mad Men,’ because I haven’t done it. I’ve stayed away,” he said March 30 on TODAY.
“I’ve only seen the show when it first aired, and it went off the air in 2015, so it’s been 11 years since that.”
“Mad Men” ran for seven seasons from 2007 until 2015, winning a total of 16 Emmy Awards, including four for outstanding drama series. Hamm’s wife, Anna Osceola, also appeared on the show, playing Clementine in the series finale.
Hamm, who won an Emmy in 2015 for his portrayal of Don Draper on the AMC drama, says he’s enjoyed looking back on his work.
“It’s been a fun ride to look back. Obviously, it’s hard to look at yourself skinnier and with more hair and all the other things. But, I don’t know, I’m doing OK. I guess I’m doing OK,” he said.
Hamm said now seems to be the ideal time to go back and watch the show again.
“It was just a fun exercise,” he said. “And I had been doing a lot of press and talking about it. I was like, ‘I should probably familiarize myself with it a little more.’ And it’s been fun so far. We’re about two thirds away through season two. So we got a lot to go to, too.”
As far as his performance, Hamm is pleased with what he sees.
“I’m liking it," he said with a laugh. "This kid’s got a future."
