In 2023, former Division 1 swimmer Ali Truwit lost part of her leg in a shark attack. After three surgeries and intense physical therapy, she won two silver medals at the Paris Paralympic Games. Now she’s set to run in New York City’s Marathon and is raising money for her nonprofit, Stronger Than You Think, which gifts girls running blades just like hers.
